Today, I took one of my cataloging interns from an area library school to a library meeting over at Perkins. I took advantage of the opportunities to introduce her to several librarians, in addition to showing her around both Perkins/Bostock and the Divinity School Library. Being pretty new to town, she hadn’t visited Duke Chapel yet either, so I had fun taking her there for the first time as well.

Since then, I’ve been thinking about my own upcoming library school experience, and how I want to be able to take advantage of opportunities to meet new people and see new things, even though I’ll be going to grad school locally (AND working full time). Sometimes it’s a matter of being at the right place at the right time, but I think that I’ll need to work on how I can make those opportunities happen. I wonder if I could still pull off an internship somewhere, something I could do at night or on the weekend. Ideas, anyone?
