I had my first class of the Spring semester, Introduction to the Academic Library, last Wednesday evening. With only 7 of us enrolled, it’s more like a seminar, size-wise. We all started together in Fall 2011 in the large intro classes, but we’ve been in different combinations of classes since then. It’s a good group for a small class, I think!
One of our assignments is to lead an hour-long class discussion. In an effort to get things over with, I signed up to lead the first one, this coming Wednesday! Yikes!
Bass Harbor Memorial Library
Meanwhile, thoughts are with my Aunt Tina Baker‘s family, as she passed away on Friday in Bar Harbor, Maine. The funeral’s tomorrow, and I want so much to be there. One of her daughters is director of the Bass Harbor Memorial Library, and so a memorial fund is being set up there in Aunt Tina’s name. Since she was an English professor, it’s so fitting! RIP, Aunt Tina.

Thanks, Joy. It had been several years since I’d seen her, unfortunately, but we’d enjoyed reconnecting in recent years via Facebook and email. I learned some things I didn’t know about her from her obit, which is both nice and sad! I’m inspired on a number of levels.
I’m really enjoying my Academic Libraries class, even more than I expected. Since I work in an academic library, I wondered if I would be bored by the class. I’m happy to say that’s not the case!
