Talk the Talk

After months (years?) of talking about rejoining Toastmasters, I finally joined to new-to-me Toastmasters club this summer! I’ve been attending Blue Devil Toastmasters meetings twice a month since August, and I’m really enjoying it. Yesterday I gave the Icebreaker Speech. It’s the first speech in the “Competent Communication” manual. I was a little nervous, but I made it through, and in normal Toastmasters fashion, I got very helpful feedback.

One of the best things about yesterday’s meeting is that one of my friends and library school classmates, Jenny, visited to check out the club! It was fun (and a big help) having her in the audience for my first speech!

Meanwhile, I have another presentation in Monday’s “Uses and Users of Information” class at library school, so maybe I’m a little more prepared for the presenting part. I still need to do the reading and make my PowerPoint, though.
